My second attendance at the Hallamshire WSD last Saturday was a wonderful experience!
There was a talk by Dianne and Jim Gaffney of www.textiletechniques.co.uk who spoke about the future of handmade textiles on the Asian Continent. It caused me thoughts of concern. As the world moves into mass capitalism the old crafts are being lost. A mini electronic revolution – as young people want gadgets and need to earn a wage to buy them – the parallel of our industrial revolution.
A very thought provoking talk.

Hi, I take it you’re based up North. A friend of mine based in Exeter, Devon is giving away a loom to a good home. If you’re networked with any weavers in the West Country can you please pass my post along? http://melindaschwakhofer.wordpress.com/2012/09/11/free-to-a-good-home/
Ta,
Melinda
